Our Senior Staff

Our senior staff has a combined 75+ years of experience in the military and aerospace industries.

Malcolm T.

Malcolm Thomson, President of RTS, has spent his career in the software and aerospace industries after graduating with a Masters in Computer Science from Hatfield University in the United Kingdom. He has been a successful entrepreneur and leader, including the formation of a software company that was listed on the NASDAQ and later purchased by Oracle.
Prior to joining RTS, Malcolm was the General Manager of Cobham RAD, Inc. and previously the Director of Operations for Aeroflex RAD, Inc. He has always had a keen interest in electronics, aviation and space and has even built a P51 Mustang, which he flies in his spare time.

Mike T.

Mike Tostanoski is the founder of RTS and has overseen the building of a team of 30+ people to provide radiation testing services to both the government and commercial defense and aerospace markets. Mike started RTS because of the perceived need for an agile radiation test organization providing expertise to large and small corporations in need of both turnkey radiation testing and short-term test expertise.
Mike is a recognized expert in the testing of electronic components, boards and subsystems in space and other radiation environments. He

also has designed and built both hardware and software used regularly in the testing performed at RTS. Mike has 40 years of experience in radiation system analysis and testing. He holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado. He is a member of IEEE and an active member of the Hardened Electronics and Radiation Technology (HEART) Society, having served in multiple roles, including as a member of the Executive Steering Committee and as the General Chair in 2010.

John B.

After spending nearly 15 years working for large aerospace firms and being responsible for the survivability and radiation assurance of more than 100 spacecraft and instruments in a variety of orbits, John recognized the need to have a center of excellence for radiation effects that was not limited to a single company, but rather a resource for the entire community. To this end, John became RTS’s second full-time employee and now heads a team of experts that are focused on:
  • Natural radiation environment definition and modeling
  • Radiation transport through shielding materials

  • Radiation degradation in materials, optics (including coatings) and electronics
  • Surface and internal charging analysis and modeling
  • Device, circuit and system-level single event effects analysis and mitigation
  • Materials and electronics radiation testing for both cumulative and transient degradation

Kris H.

Kris Hartojo is the Director of Operations at RTS. He joined the company in 2016 and has over 10 years of experience in radiation effects.
Kris has spent his career in engineering in a variety of areas including semiconductor device manufacturing and device characterization, embedded firmware testing and component testing for radiation effects.
Kris earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical Engineering) from Arizona State University and a Master of Science in Electrical

Engineering from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He is an IEEE member.

Jen A.

Jen is the Chief Operating Officer at RTS. She joined our team in 2019, but has been a trusted financial advisor since 2000. After receiving her BS from Chapman University, she began her career in public accounting, primarily focused on servicing private companies in all phases of the business lifecycle, from initial start-up through pre-IPO.
After leaving public accounting, Jen moved into private industry where she has worked extensively with businesses in merger and acquisition transactions and has been involved in numerous due diligence

engagements to support capital growth. She has also taken the role of overseeing businesses financial efforts with an emphasis on streamlining procedures and overall improvement of systems in order to enhance profitability.

Nabil M.

Dr. Nabil Mansour, Engineering Manager, leads a team of talented and experienced engineers at RTS. He joined the company in 2018 and has over 10 years of experience in radiation effects.
Nabil’s areas of experience and expertise include: modeling and simulation of semiconductor devices, semiconductor device manufacturing, characterization and spice modeling. For the past 10 years, Nabil has worked extensively on component testing and post-radiation data analysis.

Nabil holds a PhD in Ensemble Monte Carlo Simulations of Electron Transport in Degenerate Semiconductors from Georgia Institute of Technology and over 25 patents. He has also published many journal publications and conference papers.

Richard S.

Richard Sharp is CEO of Radtest Ltd at Harwell, UK. With more than 30 years of experience in the radiation effects field, Richard brings insight into radiation testing not only for the space sector but also for applications in the nuclear, high-energy physics and medical fields. Work over this time has encompassed samples as diverse as semiconductors, cameras, gemstones, honey and a 3.5 ton motor.
Richard holds a PhD on the effects of ionising radiation on bipolar transistors from the University of Southampton, UK. He has served on the

Steering Committee of the RADECS Association for more than 20 years, is a Senior Member of the IEEE and has been conference chairman twice and session chairman at multiple RADECS conferences.
