Colorado Springs, Colo. – Radiation Test Solutions, Inc. (RTS) has reached an agreement to acquire Radtest Ltd., based in Harwell, England. RTS is the premiere provider of radiation effects analysis and testing services on electronics and materials. These services include military standard (MIL-STD) ionizing and non-ionizing radiation testing, single event effects (SEE) testing, as well as space systems analysis to determine the effects of radiation on spacecraft and critical components/materials.

“We are very excited about the opportunities created by bringing both companies together” said Malcolm Thomson, Radiation Test Solutions, President. “We have worked with Dr. Richard Sharp, CEO of Radtest, since 2013. Radtest, along with their radiation testing expertise, developed the SEREEL2 laser system in 2018. The system will help to alleviate an industry bottleneck at many traditional SEE testing facilities. With the growth of the commercial space industry over the last several years, this is a perfect time for our two companies to merge and better serve our customers, globally.”

Dr. Richard Sharp states, “We have a strong working relationship with RTS. To combine the two companies into one organization will help better serve the needs of our customers in the UK, Europe and Asia. RTS has a world-class facility, subject matter experts and very experienced staff that we can draw upon to aid in supporting our customers’ needs. We look forward to this new chapter in working with RTS and being able to expand our capabilities here in Harwell.”

“With the Radtest acquisition, RTS enhances its radiation testing and spacecraft analysis capabilities to the international community. RTS will install the SEREEL2 laser-based SEE testing system at their 35,000 sq.ft. Colorado test facility. The SEREEL2 system will be available by 4Q21 and is available now to those companies interested in purchasing a system for their own use,” continued Thomson.

RTS has a long history of providing radiation testing and analysis services to the aerospace industry. Some may recognize the company under former names and ownership, such as Radiation Assured Devices, Aeroflex RAD and Cobham RAD. In 2020, RTS purchased Cobham RAD thereby securing additional services and critical equipment to support the growing customer base.
